Flagellates
of hypersaline habitats

In reference
to the protozoan communities of extreme habitats, we have investigated flagellated
protozoa in natural lagoons with high salt content as well as lagoons used for
commercial production of the alga Dunaliella (used for beta-carotene
production). The communities from these habitats have an impoverished composition
and contain some organisms which are not widely reported.
