is a collaborative project which aims to improve the availability of information
about the natural history of protists and other microbes on the internet. The
project has been supported by the NASA Astrobiology Institute, and the web-site
is served by the Marine Biological Laboratory of Woods Hole, where the laboratory
of collaborator M. L. Sogin is located.
The web site contains the first complete (to genus) compendium and classification of protists; over 6500 images, biological notes, educational materials. The web site relies on innovative indexing system (TNS) developed by the uBio project at the Marine Biological Laboratory.
