Sarwat is from Erbil City in the north of Iraq (Kurdistan), and worked as a lecturer at the Salahaddin University until 1995. In Protsville he studied heterotrophic euglenids from both freshwater and marine sites, examining the‘species-level’ diversity of these organisms.
