Rainfall in Queensland

The recent rainfall in Queensland has caused extreme excitement with the Dickman and Wardle labs. The rainfall should see the proliferation of many species.

Volunteers required for Lab Work
We are looking for people who are interested in helping us process seed samples, do data entry and other lab duties. No experience required as we will train you! Gain valuable experience working in a research lab. We also run field trips to the Simpson Desert and preference will be given to those who volunteer with us in the lab.

C. Hart Merriam Award

Professor Chris Dickman is the first Australian to ever receive the prestigious C. Hart Merriam Award for outstanding and sustained research contributions in mammalogy. The prestigious C. Hart Merriam award was announced at the American Society of Mammalogists (ASM) annual meeting in late June 2008. Professor Dickman has been invited to be a plenary speaker at the next ASM meeting in Fairbanks, Alaska, USA, to be held on 24-28 June 2009.

Whitley Award

At the 2008 Whitley Awards Presentation Chris Dickman received the highly esteemed Whitley Medal for his outstanding publication 'A Fragile Balance'. As the most sought after prize in zoological publishing in Australia, the Whitley Medal is a recognition of his contribution to the understanding, content or dissemination of zoological knowledge.
